| "Caribou Moon" study 6.5"x 16" acrylic Rob Mullen Gary and I had been photographing a herd crossing this ridge in the setting sun and we were packing to get back to the canoe when we noticed the moon coming up. Cameras back out. Then as we were lamenting that the herd hadn't passed 5 minutes later, a second group approached. With baited breath we hoped that they would crest the ridge while we could still get the moon in the frame, which they very cooperatively did (a "once in a lifetime shot" according to Gary). They continued to flow along the ridge line into the sunlight, which of course not being limited by the physics of camera optics I included in this composition |

| Weather conditions made actual field painting too challenging to do much. However, John and Cole did a considerable amount of work in the cabins in the evenings and Jay braved the wind and cold to do one real plein air (we have pictures of him working on it) |
